Why did wait so long to read this book! I heard good things about it but I wish I picked it up sooner. I am not a very big Stephen King fan. Yeah, I've read some of his short stories but he's typically not the author I run to when looking for something to read. Creepy clowns, totally not my thing. Mess with your head horror/thrillers, not really the stuff I want to read before I go to bed. This book, however, was just plain awesome! I really can't describe it in any other way. This book is close to a thousand pages so I thought it was going to take awhile for him to set up the characters and get on with the story. Boy, was I wrong!
What would you do if you were literally able to step back in time to the year 1958. Would you do it? Would you try to change past events to try and create a different future? Ok, I bet you are thinking this is some kind of lame time travel story. But really, no machines or gizmos. Just a real "step" back in time. This is question the main character, Jake, is faced with. And he's not looking to go back and change a small event in time. How about stopping Lee Harvey Oswald from killing JFK? But what about the Butterfly Effect? Is that something that exists? And even if you want to change the past, does it want to be changed and will it let you?
From start to end this book has it all! Murders, moral dilemmas, conspiracy theories, and a love story. If you have not read this book I HIGHLY recommend you pick it up. For being as long as it is, I flew through it. I didn't want to put it down because I couldn't wait to see what happened next! I promise you won't be disappointed!
