Enclave - by Ann Aguirre
Another book about a world beyond what we know. Distruction happened to society forcing some to live underground. Those living underground have a short lifespan. They are divided into groups who train at their craft until the age of 15, where they are named and become official members of the group. Deuce is a Huntress, who has been trained to navigate the underground tunnles, bring back food and keep the Enclave safe from the Freaks (think zombies). If you don't follow the rules, you'll be punished. Deuce is faced with several issues - a boy unlike the others in her group, her faith in the elders who run the enclave, and the fact that the Freaks seem to be getting smarter. Then, things change when she is banished from the Enclave and is forced to live Topside. Will she make it?
This is the first book in the series. At the time of this review, two books in the series are out. The third coming out later this year. Once again, if you like the post apocalyptic or dystopian stories, I think you'll like these books. If you dig zombies, this is right up your alley. Deuce is one bad-ass chick that you won't want to mess with, but also has a soft side. I like her character and am interseted in seeing how she develops in the next book. The fight scenes are graphically depicted (lots of blood and guts), also looking forward to learning more about the Freaks!
