Legend - by Marie Lu
The country is split between the Republic, the Colonies and the Patriots. In the Republic you have to take the Trials when you are 10 years old. These trials provide information to the Republic as to where you should be placed. If you fail, you are taken away and forced to work hard labor…or so you think.
The plague is running through LA. Day’s family thought he failed his trial and died five years ago. Instead, he’s one of the Republic’s most wanted criminals. His path crosses the path of June, a prodigy recruited by the Republic. Her brother is among the high ranks of the government. Metias is the only family she has since her parents died. But then the unthinkable happens and Metias is killed. June wants to avenge his death and thinks Day is to blame, until she finds out otherwise. Maybe the Republic isn’t really what they seem?
This book kept me interested from start to finish, as did the second book Prodigy. Day and June seem like unlikely allies. Then you find out that something more sinister is going on with June’s family that has a direct relation to what’s happening with the government. Will we find out the truth? Good read and a definite recommendation to pick up!
