Volcano Watch: The Forensic Geology Series - by Toni Dwiggins
When I read the description of this book, I thought it would be interesting. I've read crime novels before but using geology to solve a murder seemed like a cool concept. Then, throw in a volcano that's on the verge of blowing its top. Ok, you got me! However, I this book was a total flop. Dirt, snow, more dirt, trees, ash, and a whole ton of geological terms that I didn't understand nor did the author take the time to explain. People trecking through the forest and around this volcano took up a good 1/3 of the book that could have been done without. I got half way through the book and thing started to be come obvious as to what happened and who did it. Got to the end and I was right, but there was no climatic event to prove me right. The ending just, well...ended. The main character helping to "solve" the murder just reinforced her speculations and that was it. Really??? So if you happen to come across this book and think it would be an interesting read, I'd say don't waste your time. I'm really glad at the time I got this off the free Kindle list because I would have been extremely disappointed if I paid good money for this book.
